Details of the garden visit are as follows:

Doddington Place and Godinton House

Doddington Place

A notable ten-acre garden, the home of the Oldfield family, landscaped with wide avenues giving stunning views across Kent with many impressive trees and clipped yew hedges. Included too are a large number of different varieties of azaleas and rhododendrons. The woodland garden is spectacular in May. There is also a newly restored sunken garden with borders. An Edwardian rock garden and Gothic folly add to the enchantment of this imposing Victorian mansion. Lunch will be held in the Great Hall.

Godinton House

A superb historic house and garden, the twelve acres of beautiful gardens compliment this magnificent Jacobean house with its medieval hall.  Terraced lawns bordered by the famous yew hedges and the topiaried box lead through herbaceous borders, a rose garden and formal lily pond to an intimate Italian Garden and a large walled garden with delphiniums, potager, cut flowers and iris border. A secret gem.

Arrangements for the day

Meet at Ashford Station, Kent for the first garden at 9.45 am prompt.  On our arrival at Doddington Place we shall have morning coffee and then be shown around the garden by the owner. A light lunch including a glass of wine will be taken in the Great Hall.   We shall then travel to Godinton House where we will be given a fascinating tour of the house and garden.  Afternoon tea will be provided before the coach returns us to Ashford Station in time to catch the 5.30pm train back to London.  Coach travel between venues is available.

The price for all garden visits includes lunch with a glass of wine, refreshments and travel between the gardens (where appropriate).
